Pittsburgh Unemployment Rate Screams Higher


Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The region’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate hit 6 percent in September, up one-tenth of a percentage point from the previous month, according to a jobs report released Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry. The regional rate increased slightly since August because more people joined the labor force to hunt for employment, the report showed. The more dramatic increase has been seen over the last year, as 12,000 more people were counted as unemployed and looking for work, pushing the jobless rate up nearly a full percentage point since September 2015.
